TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (July 12, 2007) – While Florida’s Governor Charlie Crist hosts his landmark Global Climate Change Summit in Miami this week, solar contractor David Marsh will be busy laying the groundwork for the governor’s grand finale at home—by installing a HELIOCOL Solar Pool Heating System at the Governor’s Mansion.
The solar system, which will feature a dozen premium HELIOCOL solar collectors, will use free, clean energy from the sun to heat the governor’s outdoor pool for the next quarter-century. According to Marsh, the system being installed at the Governor’s Mansion will utilize the same technology used by HELIOCOL to gain the heating contracts for the Summer Olympic pools in Atlanta and Athens.
Marsh’s company, Tallahassee Energy & Construction Inc., will be installing the solar pool heating system at the Governor’s Mansion just days following the governor’s long-awaited climate summit featuring keynote speakers Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Marsh, a state certified contractor and preferred HELIOCOL solar pool heating dealer for over 15 years, is happy to be a part of the governor’s crusade to bring renewable energy to the state of Florida. “People who work in the solar business have been waiting a long time for legislative leaders to acknowledge the importance of renewable energy,” says Marsh. “I’m impressed with the governor’s commitment to the environment and am thrilled to participate in the ‘greening’ of the Governor’s Mansion.”
An avid swimmer who works out every day before dawn, Crist participated in an energy efficiency audit for the chief executive’s residence in April, at which time solar pool heating was suggested by local efficiency experts. “I think we have to be good stewards of the land, air, water,” Governor Crist said at the time. To further that commitment, he is hosting the first Florida Summit on Global Climate Change in Miami just days before the July 18, 2007 scheduled installation of his new HELIOCOL Solar Pool Heater. The HELIOCOL solar technology will pump the Governor’s Mansion’s cold pool water through hundreds of individual collection tubes, where the water will be warmed naturally by the sun and returned safely to the pool.
